Privacy Policy
WikiSubmission takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information the WikiSubmission website (wikisubmission.org) and the WikiSubmission mobile app (com.wikisubmission.app) collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. Throughout this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to WikiSubmission, the developer of the website and the app.
We designed WikiSubmission to work without tracking you. We do not show ads, we do not use any advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. The sections below describe exactly what we do collect and why.
Information We Collect
We only collect what we need to run the service and to sync the content you create across your devices.
Account information. You can use most of WikiSubmission without an account. If you choose to create one, you can sign in using Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or a one-time code sent to your email address. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and, if available, the display name from your provider profile. We do not receive your password from these providers.
Content you create. When you are signed in, the content you create can sync to our own servers (ws-backend.wikisubmission.org) so it is available on your other devices. This includes items such as your bookmarks, notes, reading progress and streaks, and game history. This content is stored on our first-party backend only. It is never sold, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or profiling.
Prayer times. If you use the prayer-times feature, you type in a city name. That city name is sent to our own service (practices.wikisubmission.org) to calculate prayer times. We do not collect your device's GPS or precise location, and the app does not request location permissions for this.
Technical information. Like most online services, our servers automatically record standard request information (such as IP address, device or browser type, and timestamp) for security, abuse prevention, and basic maintenance. This information is used only to operate and protect the service. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or building a marketing profile of you.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- Provide the service and sync the content you create across your devices.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and protect the service against abuse.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
What We Do Not Do
To be clear about what is not happening in WikiSubmission:
- No advertising. The app contains no ad networks and no advertising SDKs.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not embed services such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry, Amplitude, or Mixpanel.
- No advertising identifiers. We do not collect or use advertising IDs.
- No precise or device location tracking.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
Session Tokens and Storage
When you sign in, a session token is stored on your device only: in secure app storage on the mobile app, and in cookies on the website. This token keeps you signed in; it is not synced anywhere as a raw credential. Cookies on the website are used for sign-in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Data Transmission Security
All communication between the app or website and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. The mobile app does not permit unencrypted (cleartext) network traffic. As with any online service, no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we use industry-standard measures to protect your information.
Third-Party Sign-In Providers
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, your use of those services is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google: policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy
We only receive the limited profile information described under "Account information" above.
Children's Privacy
WikiSubmission is a faith-based reading and study app intended for a general audience, and its intended audience includes children.
We treat every user the same way, and we designed the app to be safe for children by default:
- We do not show advertising or use any advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We do not collect precise or device location.
- We do not use the information we collect for behavioral advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the app.
- We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
The only personal information collected from a child who signs in is the account email address (and optional display name) from their sign-in provider, plus the content they create in the app (such as bookmarks, notes, and reading progress). This is used solely to operate the app and to sync that content to the same child's account. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from a child than is reasonably necessary to provide the service.
For parents and guardians: you can review, export, or delete your child's data at any time using the in-app data controls described in the next section, or by contacting us at [email protected]. If you believe a child has provided us personal information and you would like it reviewed or removed, contact us and we will act on your request. You can also withdraw consent for optional activity history at any time using the in-app toggle described below.
Your Rights and Choices
WikiSubmission gives you direct, self-serve control over your data from within the app:
- Activity consent toggle: you can turn optional activity history on or off at any time.
- Export your data: you can request an export of the data associated with your account.
- Delete your content: you can delete the content associated with your account.
If you would like help exercising any of these rights, or have any privacy question, email us at [email protected].
Links to Third-Party Websites
WikiSubmission may contain links to websites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and their policies may differ from ours. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is effective as of July 5, 2026. We may update it from time to time; any changes take effect when posted on this page. If we make material changes, we will notify you by a prominent notice on our website and app, or by email where appropriate. Please review this policy periodically.
